Our Story
Our story starts in the fall of 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, in Todd Holmes' Media Research class.
During introductions, Renee talked about Animal Crossing. Amos' first thought was, "She's the cutest girl in class."
Meanwhile, Renee's first impression of Amos was "…Teacher's pet."
Since classes were fully remote on Zoom, we didn't really know anyone yet. When we were assigned a research project, Amos saw the perfect opportunity to partner with the cutest girl in class and reached out to Renee on Canvas.
Renee immediately thought, "Guy with the Hawaiian shirt likes me."
She was right.
We teamed up and created our project on live-action anime adaptations. We instantly clicked. We both loved anime, listened to the same music, and shared a mutual hatred for whiney college students (amongst other things). It was meant to be.
It didn't take long before we started dating. Our very first date, and the first time we actually met in person, was on the CSUN campus.
Our second date was inside Animal Crossing. During the times we couldn't see each other in person, we would go on little virtual dates together in the game.
Over the years, we've gone on countless laughter-filled adventures together: graduating college, moving in together, starting our careers, raising our autistic dog Lido, wandering the crowded halls of Anime Expo, leaving arcades with arms full of plushies, and surviving moshpits at Warped Tour side by side.
Eventually, after several not-so-subtle hints, it was time for a new adventure:
Amos proposed inside Animal Crossing, the very game that helped bring us together in the first place.
Anime has played such a huge role in both our lives and our relationship, so choosing an isekai theme for our wedding felt perfect.
Isekai is a popular anime genre where ordinary people are whisked away into a brand new world filled with adventure, wonder, and new beginnings.
We're so excited to have all of you join us as we begin this next adventure together.
